Across the UK, councils are regularly having to deal with removing chewing gum that covers their streets, pavements, and public places. Stubborn, unsightly, and difficult to remove, ingrained gum is an unending headache, which I’m sure many street cleaning professionals will agree with.

Chewing GumDid you know that councils in Wales, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland have the chance to secure grant funding to combat this sticky situation?

The Chewing Gum Task Force have partnered up with the UK’s major chewing gum producers in a bid to remove gum litter from UK high streets and help prevent future littering.

As part of the scheme, organised by independent charity Keep Britain Tidy, chewing gum companies Mars Wrigley and Perfetti Van Melle have invested £10 million to help local councils tackle this issue.

In a recent announcement, Keep Britain Tidy revealed a substantial increase in grant funding for individual councils. Previously set at £25,000, the grant now stands at an impressive £27,500. This funding boost is specifically earmarked for the acquisition of street cleansing machinery, empowering councils to invest in the best equipment on the market to tackle chewing gum pollution.

GladiatorAddex Urban’s MAXVAC MV7000 Gladiator has been specially crafted for the removal of chewing gum and has been pre-approved for grant funding by Keep Britain Tidy. This powerful machine promises not only a clean surface but a restoration of pavements and public spaces to their original colour and cleanliness, all without disturbing the substructure beneath.

What sets the MAXVAC Gladiator apart is its versatility and the substantial return on investment that it offers. Beyond the removal of chewing gum, the Gladiator can also get rid of stubborn stickers, combat weeds and overgrowth, and even erase graffiti.

The Gladiator is also available in a range of configurations, making it a tailor-made solution to suit diverse locations and environmental challenges. Whether navigating bustling city streets or cleaning in quieter, suburban landscapes, the Gladiator is ready to tackle all ingrained dirt, gum, and grime. Before and After Gladiator
